At least I have a reason to pull out my little staple gun.
I flipped the couch over and ....ran the webbing over and under the springs. just to make sure it didn't pull apart, I stapled the snot out of it... At least 20 staples on each end! I hope that stands up to the FLOPPING of the boys...
The front still sags.
SO flip back over and take a looksie...
Very thin knotty plywood strip held up by two corners of a 2 / 4. Hmm,
OFF those little corners come.
and in goes a golden replacement.
Seriously, this gem has been hiding in the garage for two years since we helped build the Aladdin float Darian's Sophomore year... (He was Aladdin).
Looks straight. not sinking to the floor. Maybe I will make slipcovers after all.
( My mother said just watch craigs list and find a better couch. Maybe that would work too.)
Thanks ladies... This is why I love blogging!

I pulled that nice piece of MDF out from the couch, and now, I am eyeballing it for one of the kitchen projects.
Hmmm, looks like the golden beam did the trick. You are lucky to have a crew! I need a crew, can you loan them to me? Tools included! Have a great weekend! Sherry
ReplyDeleteHaha love the trial run to see if it works. :) Good for you on being so handy!

ReplyDeleteHope you had a great Valentine's Weekend!
Oh, I might just have to try this on my dying sofa, I already recovered it a few years ago, and I ended up putting a piece of plywood under it you sank so deep when you sit on it. Now it is NOT the most comfortable thing in the world! Thanks for joining the party!
ReplyDeleteI've got to hand it to you, Chelle! You are repairing, recycling, re-using...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are getting greener by the day! :-)
