Granted, we are out of milk and fresh vegetables. But NOTHING to eat is a little extreme don't you think, And I didn't even open either of the freezers to show what is in there!!!
As in, "Mom, there are no sugar coated, chocolate frosted, coconut bombs to eat." Or, "Mom, we are totally out of triiiple-cafinated, sugar-loaded energy drinks." Or pehaps it actually means, "Mom, could you peel a banana for me and serve it on a crystal plate- I'm just too lazy." Huh? You think?
I think what they said was, "Mom, I'm bored and need some hard manual labor so that in a few hours when my stomach is really empty, The food that is available to me will look soooo good"
I am thinking I might let the pantry run out, take them all to volunteer at a food bank, then at the end of the day, go to the store and buy exactly what the foodbank handed out that day, and make them survive a week on that... HMM?
I know what you mean! Somewhat understandable with the younger teens, but shocking with my grown niece and her now husband who were living with us while they attended college. We spent hundreds on groceries (no kids at the time), the fridge was always full, but it wasn't the prepared perfectly by her mother's dinner that she wanted. Finally I told her "I'm your young aunt not your mother, grow up, make something". Things were much better after that. They moved out on their own the next year, only to ask to come back several months later because "things were just too expensive". Ya think!
Every day is a gift. I have the most amazing teenaged sons in the world. They are my reason for being! Living in the Pacific Northwest, I get alot of time in my gardens which are my sanity. But the winters are difficult because I am stuck indoors so much. As I try to change my life, and focus more in my creative pursuits, I am sharing everything with you. My three boys are growing before my eyes. Every day they are different. I am learning to treasure every minute we have because soon, they will be on their own. So, as I create, I also want to encourage them to grow in thier gifts. Men of Honor, that is my goal.
I hear the same thing in my house!
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me feel better. I hear that all. the. time. And, as us illustrate, there is food to be had!
